Update on ITVS funding for International producers.

As of December 2013, ITVS no longer accepts unsolicited materials, including proposal submissions or project inquiries. We select international content purely on a commissioning basis.

Background on ITVS’s International Funding

American audiences want to learn more about other places, people, and points of view, yet international stories and perspectives are in short supply on U.S. television. In 2005, ITVS launched an international initiative to give U.S. audiences access to international stories and voices on American television and new media platforms. Through the Global Perspectives Project supported by the Hewlett, Ford, MacArthur, and Wyncote foundations, ITVS has since funded, produced, and brought to viewers more than 145 independently produced documentaries from around the globe. These programs have received international recognition at festivals and award ceremonies; and have broadcast in the United States on PBS, Sundance Channel, HBO and National Geographic. Please continue to check out these and future commissioned international programs as they come to broadcast on our Emmy award winning series Independent Lens on PBS and Global Voices on the World Channel.
