I first saw this gem at the Hi-Lo Film Festival in San Fran; it was one of my favorites. Erin's work draws you in with such simple grace. After viewing AFLOAT, I'm a little more at peace with the inevitablity of growing old.

What a great variety of online short documentaries! I watched them all. I laughed (Le Fee Rouge and Chickens in the City), I cried (Homeless Karaoke) got really angry with Preacher and the Poet and was amazed by the poetry of Afloat and Devils Teeth. Its wonderful to see the vibrant elders, driven by a need to "do something" in Leonard & Mt. and The McCombie Way. Awesome shorts! This is fantastic. I hope you do this again. So much better than the bull**** you see on YouTube. Bravo Independent Lens! You rock.

This is an amazing selection of shorts. Really diverse. A lot of these images will stay with me - the eerie peacefulness of swimming with sharks, the grit and optimism of Ms. McCombie, and the outrageous words of the "Preacher" spouting his vitriolic hate. All of these films show a real cross-section of this country in microcosm. Great work!

What an amazing, captivating film. You really made it feel as if I was the one down there swimming with these beautiful creatures. Kudos to you for "keeping it real" and not portraying another Jaws III movie. Truly enjoyable. When is the feature film coming out?

I enjoyed Devils Teeth the most of the films shown. I read the book and now that I've seen the underwater video and listed to the calm "matter of fact" way that the urchin diver describes his work day among the white sharks, I find it very refreshing after all of the "Jaw's hysteria" that grip most folks when they think of a White Shark. This is excellent, I would like to see more and hear more narration.

I live off famous Colfax on East Capitol Hill. The area is gentrifying from years of blight but the vestiges of homelessness are entrenched. The Gathering Place, a day shelter for women with children is rebuilding on my corner; Ready Man, host to many without steady work or shelter is on another corner--etc. The mayor and many others are working through the problems but lack an approach that's user-friendly and bouyant like that portrayed in Homeless Kareoke. I don't see a companion site for this film which I want to purchase and make a copy for the mayor.
