My father was an entertainer from 1935 to1970. In going through his papers/pictures I found a professional photo of 3 tap dancers in top hat and tux. The caption on the photo says: "Hop, Skip and Jump, Rhythm in Taps, Management: Tyler-Mason, 48 w. 48th St. NYC." I am writing a book about my father and would like to identify as many of his colleagues as I can. There is nothing on the Internet about them. Does anyone know anything about this group?

I was curious if you or anyone you know would be interested in some original John Bubble memorabilia. Ie A top hat he wore in most performances, letters, old posters, clothes. Pictures of famous actors sent to him signed, etcÖ We found them cleaning out an old friends storage unit. She is 90 years old and was a good friend of Mr. Bubbles. -Adam C. 480-760-5087

I just saw it on PBS and the performances were outstanding and brought me back to my childhood. I also played alto sax so that man who played and tapped was outstanding. As I type this to you, I hear the rythmn of my fingers on the keypad and have to agree....it's all about rythym baby! Whether its my fingers on a keyboard typing or my fingers on a table tapping or my feet singing sweet rythmns tapping...I want to thank you for bringing the rythmn back to me! Keep up the great work and would love to see you guys do something close to Boston!

I think that, historically, there is an element of racism to the belief that tap was never considered an art like other forms of dance. Tap demands the same amount of skill and precision that other dances require, and yet it is seen as more fanciful and fun, possibly because of its whimsical nature and vaudeville history. But I think Savion Glover's style of tap has changed all that; it no longer has to be a "happy" dance.

Why was tap considered entertainment v. art... Perhaps the shear atheletism of the dance. It is amazing and nearly overwhelming to watch more in step with today's visual arts while early in the history of tap art was often static or still.
My favorite hoofers are my sons!
Tap responds and adapts to all kinds of music. This is one of the aspects of this inspired dance style that draws dancers and various artists to it.

It is thrilling to see the passion that this dance style instills in people. Not only those who dance it, but those that watch it and would like to dance it. The very fact that it had a rebirth speaks of the integrity and perserverance of American born culture, and is an affirmation and testimony to what the mixing of cultures should be. When we bring the best of who we are to a new dimension. Let's hope that the idiom of Jazz can celebrate a rebirth as well, and acknowledge the new legends that are in our midsts.

I've never heard about this show. Will it be traveling outside of Chicago? Is it still being performed at all? It's peaking my interest... Why the name, for one? It know for a fact JUBA is also the capitol city of Sudan!.. Tell me more. Thanks, and happy holidays to all of you.

In high school i have tap class I know it looks hard but if you take the time to learn you will see that it's easier than it looks.
