I want a world... by Emma Suzanne Barrett Age: 15 I want a world where eyes see the truth where you can walk two blocks to the store and not worry, wonder if you'll make it home I want a world where terrorists never streak the skies on wings of fire to shit on peoples dreams and security Where the sun's rays melt peoples frozen hearts hardened by past horrors where people don't sit in dark rooms gun in one hand drugs laced with self-hate and pain in the other where blood isn't spilt onto the streets for another's sick pleasure where love isn't used to manipulate and sex isn't a tool of power where people are more than looks and skin but vessels of love and passion of beauty and imagination of peace and not of hate where minds flow with times of joy not tortured by past days and ears don't ring with words of hate but echo with songs of love where life doesn't contradict itself at every flick of a switch and words that cut like blades to the skin are hollow and without meaning Where unspeakable acts aren't concealed behind closed doors or left there to grow and fill the shadows but where open hearts and souls aren't judged but praised in the beauty of their uniqueness. |
