Untitled
by Tim Kuhn

Have you ever gazed into your own eyes and seen your true self?
I have.
Beyond the layer of artificial emotions,
I saw the side I have long forgotten.
I saw the fire of anger
Because the world did not accept me,
It pounded my spirit to the rythym of conformity.
I saw an uncradled person,
Kicked around by the way of the world,
Anguished, withered, lonely.
I saw an evergrowing pain,
Cause by my fellow man,
A dark hole,
A bottomless pit,
An endless void,
I saw my dreams shattered,
Stolen, and trampled upon.
I have rarely seen them fulfilled.
I've seen a broken spirit wounded by the jeers of people,
I have grown wise in just 13 years,
At the expense of true happiness, I have learned.
I am filled with unsettling emotions.
But, I still have the lifelong dream to fulfill.
It is not fame or money,
No, not at all.
It is to stand on my own two feet, ignore all setbacks,
and never bow down to defeat,
To keep my will free, and my mind clear.
With this poem, I proclaim my dream and make a vow.
No matter how elusive,
I will grasp and fulfill my dream.
You see, I too, dream.
