Words
by Stephanie Carberry

I have felt the ripples of your voice.

  Leave me-- I say

Let me experience what it is to hear your words.

 Because, I am their creation

 Molding and forming

the shape of my soul with every syllable.

  I say---

continue with your brilliance, your spoken Utopia

 I am here---

make me what I am to be.

Contort my being

  For better or worse.

Carry me away in your words---

Take me from the constriction of silence

And free me into the universe of language,

  Into the world of voices.
