learn to love
by Dex

you gotta learn to love all the things you been taught to hate,
cos there's a reason why they taught you to hate them
and it ain't benevolent, or really even relevant.

dont turn away from your own shit, learn to love it
cherish it and all it's beauty
for its whats inside that counts, and shit is a lot like words.
representative of whats inside

girl you gotta learn to unlearn
you gotta love every fold and flab of fat on your body
the bigger the better, the smaller the better
whatever the better
because there isn't anything better
than anything
thats just what you been taught all these years

boy you gotta learn to unlearn
you gotta love every other boy you see
beauty isn't always opposite you, your papa got you mad confused
you got a hand on your dick, and a hand on your bat
but what are you beating? can't beat away repressed fantasies
by off-gendered corpses strung up by trees
to cover our insecurities
cos insecurities are only because you've been taught:better
but there is no better
you gotta learn to unlearn
we're all missing out, worshipping only one half of this world
we gotta learn to unlearn,
gotta love it all good bad better worse,
and contradict.
It breathes
with every murmur under silken burls.
It holds each drop, like lashes stuck,
paring wounds with pained maple tears.

Warped by constant,
quiet rills,
still unyielding,
it nurses life.
