The Muses Number Nine
by Dustin V. Brookshire

I call upon the Muses
To aid me in my simple quest
I beckon you take hold my hand
Breathe into me the creativiness
That I desire, the creativeness I lust for

I call to you Erato
The daughter of Zues and Mnemosyne
Bless me with your gift
Let me feel your power
Surge through that which holds the pen
Take control if you must
But make this great
There is much at stake

It Erato's job is successful
Then my love poem will win
My desire's love for me
And happy I shall be

I call upon all the powers that be
I beg Erato who sees
The innocence of my heart's desire
To keep her one sister away
I beg that I never see
The tragic face of the muse Melpomene

I have called upon the Muses
This I have been reminded
>From their father Zues
You cannot call on one
Without sometimes in life
Being visited by them all
