What if your most controversial act turned out to be the most traditional thing in the world? DADDY & PAPA looks at gay fathers who face both the routine and revolutionary challenges of becoming parents. As they change the landscape of the American family, these fathers wrestle with complicated issues — from surrogacy to interracial adoption, gay divorce and legal custody.
Through partnerships with national organizations, social service professionals, the LGBT community and educators, we will be:
-
Creating public awareness around gay parenting
-
Discussing issues of transracial adoption
-
Educating the LGBT community about parenting options
-
Initiating participation in "Talkback" on the website
All materials are available to our national and local partners and public television stations at no cost. These include:
With the help of our national partners and regional organizers, we want to make a difference in your community by:
-
Sponsoring child welfare trainings & activities addressing transracial and gay adoption
-
Conducting in-services about state adoption laws
-
Incorporating DADDY & PAPA in parent education workshops and family diversity classes
-
Hosting preview screenings and facilitated discussion forums at churches, community centers, academic institutions, etc.
