BE GOOD, SMILE PRETTY is a personal documentary that chronicles the filmmaker’s struggle to know and grieve for the father she never knew, a soldier who died in Vietnam when she was a baby. Through her journey of discovery, and those of her family and her father’s friends, the film sheds light on an estimated 20,000 Americans whose fathers were killed in Vietnam — and on those who continue to lose parents in war.
The CCP is partnering with organizations to target high school and college students, veterans and survivors of wars, orphans of war, and the broader audience still divided on the politics of the war. Project goals include:
-
Promoting public awareness on issues of war, grief and loss
-
Supporting a national registry of orphans of war
-
Incorporating classroom curricula into high schools and colleges
-
Initiating participation in "Talkback" on the companion website
All materials are available to our national and local partners and public television stations at no cost. These include:
