Rodger Kamenetz

Rodger Kamenetz has been called "one of the most formidable Jewish-American poets" and his recent books of poetry are The Missing Jew: New and Selected Poems and Stuck. His poems are featured in anthologies of Jewish American poetry, including Voices Within the Ark and Telling and Remembering: A Century of American Jewish Poetry. He lives in New Orleans with his wife and two daughters, where he is professor of English and Religious studies and director of the Jewish Studies program at Louisiana State University. Since its publication in 1994, The Jew in the Lotus has become a national bestseller. Kamenetz's articles and essays on religion have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Moment and Reform Judaism. His latest book, Stalking Elijah: Adventures with Today's Jewish Mystical Masters, won the 1997 National Jewish Book Award and he recently published a memoir of his mother, entitled Terra Infirma.
