Girls Inc. Provides lots of programs and information encouraging girls to be strong, skilled, and confident. Includes tips for parents and adults. Includes the Girls' Bill of Rights. GirlSite Described as "a collaborative, online community where girls can develop their true voices," this inspiring and diverse site explores topics like creativity, technology, launching careers and dreams. gURL mag/zine Aimed at girls age 14 and up, the award-winning site is fun and informative. One section, "Looks aren't everything" is a love/hate look at the beauty culture with interactive makeovers and articles on body issues. Site includes frank information on teenage sex; for younger girls, theres gURL jr. Pupule Sports Site where "women and girls, crazy to play," can read about sports, get training and nutrition tips, talk to other women athletes and find the apparel and gear they need. Teen Voices A magazine by and for teenagers that knows girls are "more than just a pretty face." Includes sections on health, poetry, reading and body art. Women and Girls in Sports The Feminist Majority Foundation's site about empowering women and girls in sports includes content about Olympic 2000 contenders, the benefits of athletics, sports and the disabled and Title IX. Women's Sports Network The high school section of this extensive site includes profiles on sports figures (and not just celebrities), articles by teens, a "herstory" timeline and access to information on all types of women's sports. |
