Application deadline

Submissions for the Independent Lens 2013-2014 season are now closed. Please check back in July for details on when to submit for the 2014-2015 season.

The annual submission deadline for the 2013 - 2014 season is now closed. Please complete the Independent Lens [Online Submission Form] (/funding/independent-lens/apply) if you would like your film to be considered for broadcast. Your application must include a url address to your secure online screener (e.g. Vimeo) and the password to view your film. Independent Lens is no longer able to accept DVD screeners.

Please complete all required information on your application in order to have your film considered for broadcast on Independent Lens. A final decision will be emailed to you on or before April 30, 2013.

Due to the volume of submissions that we receive, Independent Lens is unable to provide feedback on your film, as much as we would like to offer that service. We appreciate your understanding.

Common Questions

Can I send you a DVD instead of submitting online?

No. Independent Lens no longer accepts DVDs or hard copy applications for the submission process.

What kind of films do you accept?

Independent Lens accepts all styles of nonfiction film including POV, social issue, experimental, animation, etc.

Will you accept films of all length?

Independent Lens accepts submissions at any length, however there are standard television broadcast length requirements that may necessitate reediting.

When is the application deadline?

The deadline for the 2013 - 2014 Season is Friday, March 1, 2013

Can we complete part of the application form, save it and return to complete information and submit at a later point?

No, unfortunately you must complete and submit the application at the same time.

Do you accept International applications?

Yes, Independent Lens accepts International applications.
