Independent Lens Submission Terms

I acknowledge that Independent Lens receives unsolicited submissions of ideas, formats, stories, suggestions etc., and that Independent Lens has adopted the policy of refusing to accept or evaluate unsolicited submissions unless subject to the following terms:

1. I understand that many submissions received by Independent Lens are similar to ideas, formats, and stories developed by many other filmmakers and producers, and that Independent Lens may use such similar materials, or any materials it has an independent right to use (including, because the materials are in the public domain, are not novel, or are not original to me) without obligation to me. Because Independent Lens may independently use material similar to mine that Independent Lens receives or generates after the date of my submission, I understand and agree that to prevent any future misunderstanding or dispute I hold harmless Independent Lens for any and all claims, losses or damages arising in relation to my submission.

2. I am submitting my material voluntarily, on an unsolicited basis. My submission does not impose any confidentiality obligation nor does it create a confidential relationship between us.

3. I agree Independent Lens has no obligations to me, now, or in future, with respect to my material. I further acknowledge Independent Lens has no intent to compensate me in any way at this time, nor do I have expectation of receiving any compensation from Independent Lens whatsoever at this time.

4. I fully own or control the material I submit to you, and can grant all necessary rights in the material to you. I acknowledge all features relevant to the exploitation of the material have been disclosed to you. I further warrant the material is novel and original, and does not constitute defamation against, nor violates or infringes upon the rights of any person, firm or corporation in any way whatsoever.

5. I acknowledge and agree your review of the material does not obligate you to me in any manner whatsoever, except pursuant to any express written agreement that may hereafter be executed by you which, by its terms, will be the only contract between us.

6. I HEREBY STATE THAT I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS AGREEMENT AND THAT NO ORAL REPRESENTATIONS OF ANY KIND HAVE BEEN MADE TO ME AND THAT THIS AGREEMENT STATES OUR ENTIRE UNDERSTANDING AND I AGREE TO IT OF MY OWN FREE WILL.
