PHILLIP GRANVILLE

Phillip Granville #84, a “huge” Jamaican (at least by 1928 standards since he stood nearly six feet tall), was listed as one of the potential winners. Granville claimed Canada as his homeland and was among the runners whose strategy it was to walk. Eventually Granville began running and finished in third place, which paid $5,000.
