March 25, Gallup NM to Thoreau NM
Crossing the Continental Divide on March 21st, in Thoreau NM, the runners reached an elevation of over 7,000 feet.

March 30, Seven Springs NM to Moriarty NM
95 runners are left in the race with 2500 miles to go. The city fathers of Albuquerque refuse to pay Pyle’s advertising fee. Pyle decides to bypass Albuquerque making a detour that cuts more than 200 miles off the official Route 66.
