Chicago 10

Chicago 10 was featured in ITVS’s landmark Community Cinema program, which produces community outreach screenings in 50 cities during September 2008. All screenings were conducted between 10 and 60 days prior to the film’s scheduled national broadcast on Independent Lens and focused on the role of the media in portraying social and political issues of our times, present day protest strategies versus those of the 1960s, and the anti-war movement. Chicago 10 screenings welcomed more than 2,800 community members to events across the nation, which included special guest speakers and panel discussions with local experts. Speakers included former Yippies and current political activists, journalists and historians. ITVS produced companion discussion guides to support the screenings and for use by viewers at home; more than 10,000 were downloaded or distributed. More than 150 community-based and national organizations partnered with ITVS to engage audiences with this film and the issues it raises.
