About the filmmakersHelen DeMichiel (director, co-writer) makes her feature film debut with TARANTELLA. She has previously produced and directed a number of documentaries and video works which have aired on PBS and cable television. A former programming producer for PBS's "Alive From Off Center," her acclaimed documentary TURN HERE SWEET CORN, aired on "POV." She is the recipient of grants from the Rockefeller Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Minnesota Humanities Council, and the Bush Foundation.George LaVoo (producer) also served as executive producer and writer of the acclaimed independent feature FRISK. Previously, he worked with the independent distributors Fine Line Features and Cinecom. Richard Hoblock (screenwriter) has written several produced plays including "In the Company of Men" and "Hunting Sonny." He has also written screenplays and teleplays, and was recently a staff writer on the CBS series "Central Park West."
