A Healthy Baby Girl

In 1963, Judith Helfand's mother was prescribed the synthetic hormone diethylstilbestrol (DES), meant to prevent miscarriage. But technology is rarely a benign midwife: at age 25 Judith was diagnosed with DES- related cancer. She went home to heal from a radical hysterectomy, and picked up her video camera.Told with humor, warmth and intimacy, A HEALTHY BABY GIRL is a DES daughter's diary about "wonder drugs" and rude awakenings.

Premieres nationally on the series P.O.V.
