In 1971, Black Panther leader Dhoruba Bin Wahad (Richard Moore) was
sentenced for the shooting of two NYC police officers. In 1990, after
serving 19 years in prison, Dhoruba's conviction was overturned and he
was released. Utilizing archival news footage, personal accounts and
a rich jazz score, PASSIN' IT ON captures the candid testimony
of those involved, from Dhoruba's attorney to then-Deputy Police
Commissioner, from members of the jury to Dhoruba himself, this is a
personal history of one individual's ordeal that speaks to larger
issues.
