- Beverly Donofrio, a writer who grew up in the sixties, takes a road trip from upstate New York to Washington, DC, looking for examples of equality for women in her essay "Riding in Cars with Girls;" she is surprised by what she finds. With independent producer Julie Gustafson.
- Derrick Bell, legal scholar, who challenged the equality in Harvard Law School's tenure process by resigning in protest, tells a parable about mythic equality, "The Fable of Equality's Child." With independent producer Lourdes Portillo.
- Demetrio Rodriguez, a Texas sheet metal worker, tells of his lifelong crusade for equal education in San Antonio public schools, in his essay "The Ballad of Demetrio Rodriguez." With independent producer Renee Tajima.
