In 1998, the congregation of Delafield Evangelical Lutheran Church in southwestern Minnesota celebrated its 125th year. Four months later, faced with the harsh realities of a changing rural life, the community disbanded the congregation and gave away their beloved church building. The old church, now a tourist attraction, is a potent symbol of the demise of farming communities across America. Glenn Myrvold, Minnesota farmer
